UH Westshore Women's Health and Midwifery Team

University Hospitals Westshore Women’s Health & Midwifery offers expert gynecologic healthcare for every stage of a woman’s life – from adolescent gynecology, to pregnancy and childbirth, through menopause and beyond.

Our OB/GYN physicians are all board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and are committed to providing comprehensive care to women. Our certified nurse-midwives are educated in both nursing and nurse-midwifery, and can provide care for women throughout their life cycle. They provide a holistic approach that takes into consideration a woman’s physical, emotional and spiritual health.

The OB/GYNs and nurse-midwives at UH Westshore Women’s Health & Midwifery provide well-woman gynecological care, including Pap tests, HPV screening, breast exams, family planning, contraceptive management and also obstetrical care that includes care during pregnancy, labor and after childbirth. They are also trained in the management of menopause, incontinence, breast health services, the treatment of heart disease and other health challenges associated with aging.

The physicians and midwives at UH Westshore OB/GYN and Midwifery work closely with nurses, breast care specialists, nutritionists, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to meet the unique challenges of women today.

Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

UH Westshore Women’s Health & Midwifery physicians are trained to care for abnormal menstrual bleeding, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain and more. We use minimally invasive surgical techniques that allow same day surgery, allowing patients to be back home with minimal scarring. Women benefit from minimal time off from work and daily routines; some patients are back to work in as little as 1 or 2 weeks after a hysterectomy.

Holistic Birth Center in Westlake, OH

The Holistic Birth Center at UH St. John Medical Center Family Suites has been developed to provide a familiar, warm, homelike environment where families can experience birth.

The birth center staff of nurses, physicians and midwives offers support while giving families the ability to choose from a variety of different birth experiences, including natural childbirth, medicated childbirth and laboring in water. Birthing techniques offered include; aromatherapy, music therapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy (shower), Kaya stool, birth ball and walking.

Our Holistic Birthing Center was designed for healthy, low-risk mothers and healthy babies. Birth is a normal process and intervention is typically not needed for healthy mothers. However, unlike natural childbirth at home, the Holistic Birthing Center offers the safety net of around-the-clock pediatric and obstetric physician coverage.
